Our Biggest Site Yet

kii Design are proud to launch our biggest site yet. Working closely with Jacob Cass from Just Creative Design, Saranpaal Calais from SYA (not forgetting numerous other contributors along the way!), we have designed a website that closely serves the needs of the organisation. The Sikh Youth Australia website now acts as a central repository to the community, delivering news, articles, event information, as well as photos, videos and other media. Here are the highlights:

Quick Tour

  • Headlines slider - Draws attention to the latest news and events
  • News - Keep the community up to date with announcements and latest information
  • Media Gallery - Display photos, video, mp3s and other media from past events
  • Newsletter - Collect emails and manage a mailing list
  • Facebook Connect - Users are able to comment on articles with their Facebook profiles, with an option to also post the comment on their wall
  • Social media links - Allow the community to promote your site with quick links to share web pages

We also tried to find the most time consuming and difficult parts of running the community and streamline/automate these:

  • Collecting information - Forms to collect event registrations, surveys and contact can be easily created by SYA and put on the website themselves. Huge time savings especially since SYA run big events!
  • Payments for events - Charge for events ahead of time, in an automated process integrated with online event registration
  • Event managment - Entering event details will automatically promote them on the homepage, then move them into the "Past Events" section once passed
  • Photo and video management - Event photo sets and videos are uploaded once to Flickr and YouTube, then automatically accessed & displayed by the website
